What is VASER® Shape? How does it differ from other non-invasive treatments?

VASER Shape is a non-invasive ultrasound and massage therapy treatment that smoothes, firms and shapes the body. If you’re looking for a way to build on your diet and exercise regime and get the muscular, defined abs you’ve always wanted then Vaser Hi Def could be a good option. Vaser Hi Def is a more complicated procedure than standard liposuction, liposculpture or Vaser Lipo so you need to find a doctor who is highly trained in the procedure. You need a face to face consultation where a doctor should assess your suitability for Vaser Hi Def, discuss side effects and probable outcomes. A reputable doctor will NOT recommend a procedure you don’t need.

You will need a series of pre-op checks if you decide to proceed – these might include blood tests, weight and height checks, blood pressures checks, taking your photograph and discussing your medical history. During these checks, we may carry out further tests such as an ECG to check your heart and we’ll discuss your diet and exercise regime. It’s best to let the doctor or nurse know if you take other medications so we let you know if you need to stop taking them before your operation.

We always suggest you have someone with you for the first 48 hours after surgery but it’s a good idea to stock the cupboards up beforehand so you have everything you need. Make sure you have enough nourishing food and plenty of drinks for a few days. Antibacterial hand wash is a useful thing to keep infections at bay and as you’ll be a bit sore for a few days a pre-op house clean is a good idea.

• Give yourself time to recover. You can start light exercise after a fortnight but you need time to build back up to a full workout after Vaser Hi Def abs procedures.
• Before you get back to the gym full time review your diet. To build muscle you need protein. And to see muscle definition you need to get down to around ten per cent body fat. You can only lose fat by burning more calories than you consume. So you need to eat a good diet, cutting out processed food and including all the main food groups.
• You won’t get results by going crazy and this is especially important after surgery. It’s best to do between 10 and 20 reps at a time and then add more sets as you get stronger.
• Crunches will only get you so far so you can add resistance using a medicine ball or dumbbell. You should also include other exercises for a full core workout, like side bends and rotational exercises.
• If you want to focus results on your abs then dedicate complete workout sessions to just your abs. If you try and work on your abs when you are tired then you won’t get the results you want.
• Try mixing things up. Using a Swiss ball is perfect for working the lower abs and if you train standing up then you are working your back and front at the same time.
• Make sure you’re stretching and including cardio. When you stretch the muscles you improve the range of motion and ensure it is fully resupplied with blood. Include some short bursts of cardio, ten minutes at a time rather than long drawn out cardio workouts. This will boost your metabolic rate in the long term.

• You must take your aftercare medications, you will be given a prescription for these and it’s vital you complete the course.
• You’ll need to attend for post-op therapy sessions, at our clinic these are every day for 7-10 days after your op. This is where we can observe how you are healing and discuss any concerns you may have.
• There are some things that won’t help the healing process, it’s best to avoid swimming pools and Jacuzzis for the first week after your op. Keep your incision sites clean and protect them with a small plaster.
• There will be some swelling during the first few weeks; you’ll see the final result after 3-4 months.
• It’s normal to have bruising for 2-3 weeks and slightly numb skin. You may have some hard or lumpy areas, your doctor will keep an eye on these but they should disappear as you heal.
• You can start gentle exercise after 2 weeks, gradually build back up to your normal routine and stop if you experience any pain.
• If you want to maintain the results then you’ll need to manage your diet, keep physically fit and stay at a steady weight.
