Excessive hair growth can have a real impact on your confidence – especially when you’re coping with it as a result of a medical condition. If it’s something you’ve developed over time, getting used to the routine of hair removal isn’t easy and can be very expensive, not to mention that self-conscious feeling when you go out.
It’s likely you’ve already considered procedures such as laser hair removal, but were put off by their painful reputation. However, with a new pain free system used by the experts at Riverbanks Clinic, you don’t have to live with excess hair any longer.
The advanced Super Soprano XL Laser Hair Removal System technology kills hair at the root, meaning it won’t regrow – and it doesn’t harm your skin. It works on most skin types – even on Asian skin types known to be sensitive to old laser treatments. So you can forget the symptoms of excess hair – you can have hair-free skin long-term. Sun damage clearly visible (c) Wikipedia
It is incredible to look back over the centuries and find out how all the different attitudes that people had towards sun and tanning have changed.
At one point being tanned was only for the lower class who worked outside on the land and the more wealthy people would prefer to remain pale, as an indication of the status. This is still the case in some Far Eastern countries too.
Then we started to see the ‘healthy glow’ of a tan as a positive thing – although some people took it too far and did irreparable damage to themselves through excessive sun exposure.
It doesn’t just take lying for hours in the sunshine or visiting sunbeds regularly to cause skin damage. In fact, every single day your skin is exposed to UV (Ultra-Violet) light and causes some kind of damage – even when you can’t see the sun itself. You can’t even feel the UV rays so it is difficult to understand exactly what is happening. Read more... (582 words, 2 images, estimated 2:20 mins reading time)

We are all aware that women come in all manner of shapes and sizes, which means that although most women are not completely satisfied with their body, they can at least learn to love the body they’ve been given. In fact, for many women, when it comes to looking healthier or younger, it’s the condition of their skin they try to improve, and not their overall body shape or size.
So this Mother’s Day, give your mum something they will really love you for; a course of rejuvenating skincare treatments.
At Riverbanks Clinic, we offer a wide range of effective skincare treatments to tackle various problematic skin conditions, leaving yummy mummy looking skin. For many of us, our mums would have grown up in an age when the exact damaging effects of the sun were unknown, leaving many women with sun-damaged skin. A course of IPL (intense pulsed light) can dramatically improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin using medical strength IPL light which targets the dark patches of sun-damaged skin, causing them to absorb the light, flake, and fall off, reducing the patchy pigmentation of the skin. Facial sagging is one of the biggest signs of aging, with one of the most problematic areas being the cheeks and jaw line. As the skin ages, it looses collagen, which is the most important ingredient to keep the skin plump and tight and wrinkle free. For many mature women, however, this loss of collagen also causes the development of jowls, a sagging of the skin around the bottom of the face.
Where many women either try to either ignore it or opt for extreme face lifts, they perhaps have not considered Vaser Lipo or Dermal Fillers to get rid of jowls. But both of these treatments can help give women the youthful look they want without having to resort to invasive cosmetic surgery.
Vaser Lipo is an almost invasive-free treatment. The treatment simply involves the use of ultrasound on the problem area which breaks down the fat reducing it to a liquid, which is then drained using a type of needle called a cannula. The skin receives no trauma such as bruising or swelling, and the recovery time is hours, not weeks. Although Vaser Lipo does not necessarily prevent jowls from returning, the effects are immediate. It won’t come as much of a surprise that skin damage is a huge issue for British men and women, with summer holidays, sun beds and general ageing leaving many with sun damaged skin. If you start to find that your face is showing the obvious signs of sun damage such as uneven skin pigmentation, red thread veins and looser skin, then an Intense Pulsed Light (or IPL) treatment could give you back healthier, younger looking skin.
Sun damage does not only occur after a 2 week intensive summer holiday, or one too many trips to the local tanning booth, but also over time. Sun damaged skin and general signs of ageing can even be caused by our own feeble British sun where UV light is still able to break through the clouds and reach our exposed skin. This everyday exposure to harmful UV rays makes our skin become damaged and weaker as the levels of collagen are reduced, leaving us with sagging, as well as discoloured and unhealthy looking skin. Dermaroller treatments use micro-medical skin-needling to roll away the imperfections and stimulate your own collagen to regenerate and repair your skin naturally.
Imagine what it will be like to remove those little imperfections and to smooth away the signs of an aging skin, those little wrinkles and the ‘papery’ look on your neck and décolletage. Radiant, resilient skin will shed the years and your friends and family will only notice that you’re looking really fabulous!
We’d like to share the following recent reviews / testimonials we’ve had for the Dermaroller treatment:
Dermaroller for acne scars
In a recent blog post, Banu Roe told us about her experience with Dermaroller Microneedling, and how it has helped her acne scars. You can read her experience here. She told us:
I absolutely loved the treatment, can’t believe I am actually saying this but I can’t wait for my second treatment which will be 6 weeks apart from the first one.
I am actually looking forward to be needled! Read more... (431 words, 2 images, estimated 1:43 mins reading time)

It’s a sad fact that even once acne has disappeared for good, the scars can remain, and no amount of make-up will cover them all. They lead to you feeling self conscious, and in some cases have been cited as a cause of depression!
It’s easy to spend a fortune on creams and potions that just don’t work, leaving you feeling dejected and like you’re wasting your time.
But there IS an answer – and you can find it at Riverbanks Clinic.
The most effective treatment for acne scarring is laser skin resurfacing, utilising SmartXide DOT therapy. Laser resurfacing works by penetrating the skin beneath each scar to stimulate collagen remodelling and levelling out of the skin as well as improving the overall quality of the skin. When combined with a bespoke skin care regimen as well as some phototherapeutic exposure such as with Omnilux, results are even better. Read more... (308 words, estimated 1:14 mins reading time)

We all dream of having beautiful, glowing, wrinkle free skin. Both men and women spend a lot of time looking after their skin and following strict beauty regimes, but sometimes even that is not enough to get the effect we are really looking for.
Our fresh-faced celebrity idols always have the most radiant skin and effortless glow – and now you can too! Dermaroller Microneedling will reduce spots, redness and brown spots (marks) as well banishing scars, stretch marks and other marks.
Sound too good to be true? Well it’s not! And even better, it is incredibly simple and actually it’s your body that does most of the work!
The Dermaroller, rather than covering or stripping skin cells from the surface, makes tiny (less than 0.1mm width) columns in the skin and encourages your body to repair itself from deep below the surface. New collagen is formed, new skin cells develop and rejuvenated blood capillaries carry fresh new oxygen and life into your skin. This fresh skin looks healthier, fuller and refreshed. Obviously this takes a little while to happen but you should start to see positive results within around 6 weeks of your first procedure, with final results at about 6 months. Read more... The largest organ in the human body is the skin — and it’s the most visible too. If it’s not functioning properly it looks dull, drab and lifeless.
All sorts of things affect how it looks from what you eat, the environment around you and what you put on it. Now Christmas and New Year are on the horizon it’s the perfect opportunity to do something spectacular for yourself.
Firstly, you need to get your skin into a state of glowing health so people don’t spend Christmas sympathising with you — the ‘You poor dear, you look exhausted, you’ve done really well though, I expect it was worth it,’ sort of comment. Wouldn’t you much prefer ‘Wow, you look amazing. I don’t know how you do it — and look years younger than you have any right to!’
You can have visibly more youthful skin by Christmas with a range of options including skin peels, microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, dermal fillers or botulinum toxin — but you need to start NOW! Read more... (384 words, 2 images, estimated 1:32 mins reading time)
