Ladies Hair Loss – Riverbanks Clinic are here to help
Hair Loss in men can be hard enough for many to accept but at least considered socially acceptable. Whereas for women it is a distressing and upsetting condition which often causes cosmetic and aesthetic issues so let us try and understand a little bit more.
Do all women suffer from hair loss?
Research shows that up to 13 per cent of women have some degree of hair loss before the menopause, and afterwards it becomes far more common – one piece of research suggests that over the age of 65 as many as 75 per cent of women are affected.
What causes hair loss in women?
One of the commonest forms of hair loss in women is a condition called telogen effluvium, in which there is a diffuse (let’s say widely spread out) shedding of hair on and around the scalp. Normally this is a reaction to intense stress on the body’s physical or hormonal systems and can occasionally be a reaction to medication.
