I finished my seven day detox with relative ease i.e. I didn’t get any headaches or illness, just developed severe boredom of greens and liquid food ! In particular I really didn’t like the Poliquin Medical Food Metallo PX – it really tasted crap. But the others were actually quite nice and I enjoyed having them about 5 x  a day and didn’t go hungry once.

One of the benefits of having so many greens was clearing out my guts and this happened after day 3.Each day my weight fell by about half a kilo. So by the end of the week I had dropped 4 Kg and more importantly I dropped about 4% in body fat as measure by my PT.

Since the Cleanse, I haven’t had any red meat and have continued to stay off all sugars inc fruit, and coffee & naturally, starches. My lean mass is going up as now I’m intensifying my workouts at the gym with my PT.

What is really interesting is that immediately after my cleanse, my muscle groups were actually stronger and I was dipping with extra weights attached to me, whereas before the cleanse, I couldn’t even dip my own body weight. I guess I must have flushed out a lot of toxins from my muscles which was hindering them.

I am really motivated to really try and drop my  fat % to below 10% this year and now my body has become my temple!

Today I woke up feeling a bit light headed so I immediately drank a pint of water which helped. After getting the kids breakfast sorted I then started on the Metallo Px Medical Food supplement by Poliquin. This tasted absolutely AWFUL and I must admit I struggled all day to keep this one going. I had a toal of 5 of these drinks, with 3 drinks of phytos and I also added 10g of L-Lglutamine to each meal.

My vegetable of the day was spinach. At work I had to have it raw all day as I couldn’t cook there. When I got home I lightly steamed the spinach and then added some butter. BLISS!!

I can’t face another day of the Metallo so will shift to the other medical food tomorrow.

Head’s a bit achy now and light headed. Going  to bed.

I woke up today feeling pretty good. No headaches, no shakes. I was delighted when I weighed myself today I was thrilled cos I had lost just over 1Kg since yesterday!

My supplement intake was the same as yesterday. However I replaced kale with celery for the day.

Today was a really busy day for me at work with several back to back surgeries which require a lot of mental and physical effort. However, I was able to take my ‘meals’ and hydration in between cases which kept my energy levels up and hunger pans away. For my last surgical case I took about 10 BCAA’s to boost my energy for the 3 hour case!

At the end of the day I felt relieved that I had no headaches, however, they are now just starting to develop, so I’m gonna take an extra meal and more water, then head off to bed after watch Celebrity Big Brother!

Tomorrow I’m doing a new meal – oh joy! And it’ll be spinach all day!

For the first six months after my six pack surgery, I really was motivated with my new diet. My personal trainer identified that my metabolism couldn’t cope with most gluten food stuffs and that if I did eat these foods, they would be converted to fats and stored on my body. Weekly caliper measurements from all over my body were taken for 6 months and while I was good and avoided the Hi GI goods, my caliper readings fell and my muscle definition improved. However, after 6 months I started to get a little bit relaxed and slowly cheated a little bit more each week!

As a result, despite the intensive training at the gym, and still being on a completely different diet to before, my definition faded and my weight crept up and my caliper measurements increased. The lowest I got my body fat percentage to was 14% back in July. Thanks to Christmas, today my body fat has soared up to 23% !!!

I had discussed with my trainer how to refocus and restart in 2012 and we agreed to go for a seven day oestrogen detox programme based on Charles Poliquin‘s products and methodology. Today was the start day having worked myself up for it over the last few weeks. I am really motivated and really want to get ripped this year, maximising the results from my Vaser 4D Sculpting surgery a year ago.

Tonight I’m having more Kale and more Estrogenomics. I can have one more drink of PHyto PX today and two more Estrogemonics. Its not been to bad today especially as I’ve been working from home when I tend to get more peckish. Tomorrow I’m operating all day in surgery and that should be fine too as long as I keep refuelling between cases which should be fine.

I always explain to my patients the potential side effects following a treatment with a botulinum toxin prescription around the eyes and forehead. Thankfully serious complications are almost unheard of. However, there are what I call ‘cosmetic’ complications which would bother a patient but not put their health at risk.

The 4 most common ‘cosmetic complications’ people ask about are:

1. Droopy Eyelids

2. Heavy Brows

3. Mr Spock Eyebrows

4. Tightness & Frozen expression

DROOPY EYELIDS

These are thankfully very rare despite the press always going on about it. This occurs when some of the Btx drifts to the upper eyelid muscle by mistake. It is not normal to be injected directly into the eyelid muscle for treating forehead frownlines. If some Btx does drift to this muscle it will weaken it and so create a lazy eyelid. Thankfully this can be remedied in most cases with some simple eye drops available from your doctor. The side effects will settle within a couple of weeks or so usually and thereafter you will enjoy the expected benefits of your treatment.

HEAVY BROWS

These occur if your forehead muscles have been injected with a higher dose than required, or if the injections have been placed without consideration for your depressing and lifting muscles. People with short foreheads are at a greater risk of this complication. It is less pleasing in women than men. The effects can last for several weeks in many circumstances. However, this shouldn’t put you off your next treatment. Let your injector know what happened and sometimes the brows can be lifted with further Btx treatment.

MR SPOCK EYEBROWS

Too much Btx in Nicole Kidman ?

This is when the outer parts of your eyebrows cock upwards and look too pointed like the Star Trek character Mr. Spock. It is quite simple to fix with further injections so please do contact your doctor should these develop.

FROZEN FACES & TIGHTNESS

This only occurs if the dose given in your treatment is simply too strong for you. The effects will settle with time and the positive effects of your treatment will last for several months. If you don’t like this look then let your doctor know so that they can use a softer dose next time, providing a much more natural effect.

Dr Robert Troell from California recently published his study comparing the different types of liposuction he has performed in his practice with interesting results. This study carries significant credibility because Dr Troell has been a national trainer in both Vaser and Body-Jet techniques in the USA and so offers an unbiased view.

In this 150 patient study, Dr Troell compared traditional liposuction (Suction-assisted-liposuction) to Ultrasound-assisted-liposuction (VASER) to Water-assisted-lipouction (Bodyjet). He produced  this study to help both physicians and patients in choosing the right treatment.

Here is a summary of the results:

• VASER resulted in greatest amount of fat removal and highest patient satisfaction
