I finished my seven day detox with relative ease i.e. I didn’t get any headaches or illness, just developed severe boredom of greens and liquid food ! In particular I really didn’t like the Poliquin Medical Food Metallo PX – it really tasted crap. But the others were actually quite nice and I enjoyed having them about 5 x a day and didn’t go hungry once.
One of the benefits of having so many greens was clearing out my guts and this happened after day 3.Each day my weight fell by about half a kilo. So by the end of the week I had dropped 4 Kg and more importantly I dropped about 4% in body fat as measure by my PT.
Since the Cleanse, I haven’t had any red meat and have continued to stay off all sugars inc fruit, and coffee & naturally, starches. My lean mass is going up as now I’m intensifying my workouts at the gym with my PT.

‘Injectables should only come from doctors or nurses – not hairdressers’
One of the UK’s top cosmetic doctors, based near Harpenden, is today joining nationwide calls for the regulation of cosmetic fillers and other injectable substances such as Botox.
Dr Ravi Jain of RiverBanks Clinic (www.riverbanksclinic.co.uk) between Harpenden and Luton, says that following the PIP breast implants scandal, the next area needing tighter regulation is the use of injectable fillers and wrinkle smoothers that are now being offered by everyone from hairdressers and dentists to beauticians and salon staff:
“My message is that regulation of these incredibly popular cosmetic procedures is long overdue. Patients should know that if they are looking for this type of anti-ageing treatment that the people offering injections are fully trained doctors or nurses – not hairdressers or beauticians.
“As a fully trained doctor I think it’s a scandal that this sector of the industry is left wide open to cowboys and unscrupulous operators who offer bargain prices but with no guarantee of trained staff, safety or high-quality, long-term results. Today I woke up feeling a bit light headed so I immediately drank a pint of water which helped. After getting the kids breakfast sorted I then started on the Metallo Px Medical Food supplement by Poliquin. This tasted absolutely AWFUL and I must admit I struggled all day to keep this one going. I had a toal of 5 of these drinks, with 3 drinks of phytos and I also added 10g of L-Lglutamine to each meal.
My vegetable of the day was spinach. At work I had to have it raw all day as I couldn’t cook there. When I got home I lightly steamed the spinach and then added some butter. BLISS!!
I can’t face another day of the Metallo so will shift to the other medical food tomorrow.
Head’s a bit achy now and light headed. Going to bed.

I woke up today feeling pretty good. No headaches, no shakes. I was delighted when I weighed myself today I was thrilled cos I had lost just over 1Kg since yesterday!
My supplement intake was the same as yesterday. However I replaced kale with celery for the day.
Today was a really busy day for me at work with several back to back surgeries which require a lot of mental and physical effort. However, I was able to take my ‘meals’ and hydration in between cases which kept my energy levels up and hunger pans away. For my last surgical case I took about 10 BCAA’s to boost my energy for the 3 hour case!
At the end of the day I felt relieved that I had no headaches, however, they are now just starting to develop, so I’m gonna take an extra meal and more water, then head off to bed after watch Celebrity Big Brother!
Tomorrow I’m doing a new meal – oh joy! And it’ll be spinach all day!

For the first six months after my six pack surgery, I really was motivated with my new diet. My personal trainer identified that my metabolism couldn’t cope with most gluten food stuffs and that if I did eat these foods, they would be converted to fats and stored on my body. Weekly caliper measurements from all over my body were taken for 6 months and while I was good and avoided the Hi GI goods, my caliper readings fell and my muscle definition improved. However, after 6 months I started to get a little bit relaxed and slowly cheated a little bit more each week!
As a result, despite the intensive training at the gym, and still being on a completely different diet to before, my definition faded and my weight crept up and my caliper measurements increased. The lowest I got my body fat percentage to was 14% back in July. Thanks to Christmas, today my body fat has soared up to 23% !!! Read more... (475 words, 1 image, estimated 1:54 mins reading time)

Riverbanks Clinic leads the UK
Dr Ravi Jain and his team at Riverbanks are glowing – and it’s not because they’ve had one of the fantastic skin treatments that they offer their patients! They’ve just been voted the Best Clinic in the UK in the national Aesthetic Awards and also picked up an award for Best Customer Service – out of 4,500 entries!
These aren’t the first Aesthetic Medicine awards the Riverbanks Clinic have won: in their first year in business they also won two. Not only were they presented with ‘Best New Clinic’, but also ‘Best Business Development’. Now in their third year they’re not just the best new clinic, but the best clinic nationwide.
After the Awards dinner on 1st December, Dr Jain said “It’s fantastic for the team, as there were many clinics entered who have been in business for much longer than we have. The whole team is thrilled and very excited about our achievement.” Read more... (425 words, 2 images, estimated 1:42 mins reading time)

We are always thrilled when our patients take the time to tell others about their Riverbanks Experience. We found this latest testimonial on the sofeminine.co.uk website by a Vaser patient who had the very latest version of Hi Def….. Vaser 4D Sculpt. Her results are already pretty good despite being so early after her operation.
“Hello from fatsuit ville
Yes I had lipo vaser hi def on 10th Nov. These guys are the best I would not go anywhere else. If you are thinking of high def it gives the best results but you need to stay local to luton to get your aftercare massages. Remember no pain no gain but the results are beyond any pictures I have personally seen on the internet. I am still in the fatsuit and there is still a long way to go. I had well basically everywhere from knees to waist and also fat in my bum.

Post op aftercare includes ultrasound therapy, manual lymphatic drainage and pressuretherapy as devised by Dr Alfredo Hoyos. The Riverbanks post-op team went to Bogota in November 2011 to advance their already excellent skills for the benefit of our post op vaser patients.
Watch below highlights of an aftercare session in Bogota.
